Brainstorming

Having tackled the very large problem of remodeling our galley-style kitchen (see http://sascha243.blogspot.com/ for pictures from beginning to end), it's time to start thinking about how we are going to redo our guest bathroom. It's fairly small and quite out of date--just room for a one-sink vanity, although a 36" one, a toilet, a tub, and not much else, as you can see from the image at left.

Our intentions are to gut the old fiberglass tub and surround, scrape up the old vinyl flooring, get rid of the 25 year old sink and toilet, etc. and start from scratch.

We want to install a nice tub, but are limited to the original size, and we're trying to decide if we want one that has the Jacuzzi whirlpool jets or not. The tub surround will be all marble tile as we have done in our master bath (which is even smaller than this one, believe it or not). New toilet with water-saving feature, new tank topper and matching medicine chest with lots of storage. The company that made our kitchen cabinets will make the vanity, with one door and three drawers of graduated depth, bead board fronts like in the kitchen. Granite countertop. In the master bath, (pictures of which can be found in the other blog) we went with white fixtures, a pedestal sink, white beadboard around the bottom and a darker cornflower blue on the walls, white ceiling. We may stick with white sink, tub, and toilet, or we may go for almond. I'm thinking that we might go with a darker wood for the vanity and a lighter granite, reversing what we did in the kitchen. If so, we may also use a darker bead board color and a lighter color up top. I'm looking for opinions so feel free to comment and make suggestions!
